Privacy Policy for Parents

Last updated: May 2026

At Routina, we are committed to providing a safe and transparent environment for your family to build healthy habits. This policy explains how we protect your information, with a particular focus on the privacy of your children.

1. Privacy by Design: The Child Experience

No Emails for Kids: Children do not need an email address or password to use Routina.

Anonymous Access: Parents generate a one-time 6-digit access code from the child's row in Settings. This code is valid for 15 minutes.

Anonymous Sessions: When a child enters this code on their device, they begin an anonymous Firebase session. This session is automatically linked to the correct child profile and family without the child ever needing to provide an email or create a separate account.

2. Information We Collect

From Parents: We collect your name and email address when you create an account via email, Google, or Apple sign-in. You can update your display name at any time in the Edit Profile modal.

About Children (Provided by Parents): Parents provide a child's name, choose a fun avatar (like a lion, panda, or frog), and may optionally set a date of birth.

Routine Data: We store the routines you design (morning, afternoon, evening) and the tasks your child completes. This includes tracking "completion history" and "routine performance" to provide you with insights.

Data Retention: We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When your account is deleted, all associated data — including child profiles, routines, completion history, and reward records — is permanently removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by applicable law.

3. Multi-Parent Family Spaces

Shared Real-Time Data: Any parent account that owns a "family space" can invite another parent by email.

Collaboration: All family members see the same children, routines, rewards, and progress in real time.

Parental Gate: Managing the family space — such as inviting co-parents or generating child access codes — is strictly reserved for parent accounts.

4. Security and Child Safety

Restricted Access: Our security rules ensure that only authenticated family members can read or update child profiles, routines, progress, and rewards.

Visual Distinction: The "I'm a Child" login and Child Mode are green-themed and visually distinct from the parent interface to ensure children stay within their designated safe space.

5. Advertising and Monetization

Parent-Only Zones: To avoid distracting children or collecting their data, advertisements are placed strictly within parent-only areas, such as the Settings or Insights screens.

Safe for Kids: We do not allow behavioural tracking of children. Any ads shown are filtered to ensure they are family-appropriate and do not interfere with the "less nagging, more doing" goal of the child's routine.

6. Your Rights and Data Control

Management: You can edit child profiles, routines, and reward catalogues at any time.

Propagated Changes: When you update your own profile name, it propagates across the entire family space simultaneously.

Sign Out: Parents can sign out of their account or revoke a child's anonymous session at any time from the Settings screen.

Account & Data Deletion: You can request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data by visiting our Data Deletion page. Requests are processed within 30 days.
